Boxing Stables proprietor Anthony Mwamba joins the world in mourning Ali

Exodus Boxing Stables proprietor and Managing Director Anthony Mwamba has joined the World in mourning the three time World heavy weight Boxing champion Muhammad Ali who passed away, recently after a long bout of Parkinson Disease.

ZANIS sports reports Mwamba saying it is so sad that our icon has gone adding that Ali inspired so many boxers.

“ Well it is so sad that our icon has gone, Muhammad Ali has inspired so many boxer we are what we are today because of him, “ he said.

Mwamba said he remembers very well in 1974 when he fought George Forman in Zaire Congo, a bout commonly as Rumble in the Jungle, that he in the company of his friend walked kilometres to watch the boxing match at Kazumba at Mwaiseni in Chingola, as there were few T.V sets then.

“ And there was a distance from where I was staying in Chabanyama township, I remember very well after the fight. When going back how we could do what Ali was doing shuffling ,jabbing dancing like Ali , “ he said

He said he like the rest of the boxing fraternity worldwide shall going to miss him .

The death of Muhammad Ali, the former heavyweight champion known as much for his political activism as his boxing brilliance, triggered a worldwide outpouring of affection and admiration for one of the best-known figures of the 20th century.

Ali, who had long suffered from Parkinson’s syndrome which impaired his speech and made the once-graceful athlete almost a prisoner in his own body, died on Friday at the age of 74.

The cause of death was septic shock due to unspecified natural causes, a family spokesman said. Ali was admitted to a Phoenix-area hospital with a respiratory ailment on Monday.

“He’ll be remembered as a man of the world who spoke his mind and wasn’t afraid to take a chance and went out of his way to be a kind, benevolent individual that really changed the world,” the family spokesman, Bob Gunnell, said at a news conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.

He will be put to rest tomorrow.
