A TWENTY-EIGHT-YEAR-OLD man of Mkushi in Central Province has allegedly murdered his child after a fight with his wife.
Provincial Police chief Lombe Kamukoshi identified the suspect as Davison Mumba who is alleged to have murdered his nine-month-old child, Kenani Mumba.
Ms Kamukoshi said Mumba picked up a fight with his wife, Gift Bundandalambo, 28, of the same abode on Saturday between 22:00 hours and midnight.
She said after the fight, the wife rushed to report the matter to police, but when she came back home in the company of police officers, it was found that the infant had been dumped some metres away from the house.
The baby had a swollen face and one eye had been plucked out.
“After the fight, the wife left the child with the husband and went to report to police, when she went back with the officers, she found the child dumped about 800 metres away from the house with a swollen face and its left eye plucked out,” she said.
Ms Kamukoshi said that the police have since arrested Mumba to help with investigations and determine what led to the child’s death.
