WhatsApp users, beware malware ‘gold’ app version

WhatsApp

WhatsApp users may be victims of a malware application going around claiming to be a premium ‘gold’ version of the WhatsApp app.

If downloaded it then infects a phone with malware.

Some features being promoted in the malware app are video calling and multiple photo sharing of up to a 100 at a time.

Users will also be drawn into downloading it ‘via invite only’, claiming that its an elite version of WhatsApp.

The device infected by this malware will make users vulnerable to hack attacks where data may be stolen or phone activity may be tracked.

This ‘gold’ scam is similar to a previous one called ‘WhatsApp Plus’ which prompted users to download a ‘new WhatsApp’ but instead infected devices with malware.

To avoid this, do not download any WhatsApp app sent to you using links. Always get your updates from the original app stores that your operating system is compatible with.
