Five pupils and a teacher from Hillcrest Secondary school die in road accident

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the traffic accident that happened last night in Choma in which 4 pupils and a teacher of the same school died was caused by overspreading.

A report by the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) suggests that the accident happened when the driver of the Mitsubishi Rosa registration number AJC 5110 in which the pupils and the teacher of Hillcrest National Technical High School were being driven , Joseph Kafwimbi Mwape attempted to bypass a stationed truck but that upon realizing that there was an oncoming vehicle on the other lane went back to his lane and thereby hit into the same stationed truck in the process.
In a statement to Qfm News RTSA Head of Public Relations Frederick Mubanga has confirmed to Qfm News that the accident happened around 22:00hrs.

Mr. Mubanga says much as RTSA is saddened by the loss of life in the accident, his agency questions school authorities at Hillcrest National Technical High School for allowing pupils to be driven at night.
He states that RTSA is in the same vein appealing to motorists in the Country to always exercise caution and patience when travelling at night.
Mr. Mubanga says it is clear that at night visibility is poor and therefore motorists should drive at moderate speed and ensure the road is fully visible.
